"Relocation Series" 2024
Pencil and graphite powder on paper
Exploration of elements such as relocation, the emotional state within it as well as objects that characterize it. The production of the works begins by translating pictures from a personal photographic archive on paper. They are often modified to serve a purpose, their composition changes, it's context alters. I am fascinated by the human transition from one space to another, as well as the coexistence of many, who may come from various current residencies. The feeling of home in it's tranformation. I choose the representation of architectural designs as they have a strict and linear character which contrast with the nature of transition which is often distinguished as fragile, blurry and liminal. Those designs are linked to our personal perception of home by memory, as all are based on sketches.
"Boxes Series" 2022
Exterior: wood, metal, glass, led lights Interior: mixed media
This body of work consists of three-dimensional constructions-boxes. The enclosed maquette, as “curious space”, is a reference to “Curiosity Boxes”. The Renaissance collections offer a key to the pre-scientific effort to understand the world. The primary perception of size signifies the apparent reality of objects. The size of a dollhouse for example provides us a wonderful power to control the life in there, a power in charge of why miniature fascinates us. Curiosity is identified with the contrived optics of the keyhole. The viewer as being an explorer, is invited to observe their interior, through various distorting (and non-) lenses. The enclosed spaces create a conversation with elements such as optical illusion and distortion.
"Spaces Series" 2022
Pencil and graphite powder on paper
Exploring the allegorical function of spaces, issues related to transience and the element of transition. Transitions from full to void, from being to parting, all of those fading narratives. here is a journal-like characteristic which allows me to chronicle these notions and communicate them with the rest. This is my interpretation of “Liminal Space”.
